HERA IN A GOLDEN CAGE

In Greek mythology there are three times that Hera was imprisoned and none of them the golden cage that my Hera finds herself in – it will have to serve as a metaphor.

  1. Hera was swallowed together with her brothers and sisters by her dad, Cronus to prevent them overthrowing him. Latterly freed when Zeus forced Cronus to sick up his kids,
  2. During the Olympian she, and other gods, tried to overthrow Zeus. He chained her to the sky and only released when she promised never to rebel again,
  3. Hera’s son, Hephaestus, captured her in a magical, invisible throne as revenge for throwing him out of Olympus. This version is probably closest to my golden cage. Later on Dionysus got Hephaestus drunk and convinced him to free her. A troubled life indeed.

Here are two versions. The one I use depending on which looks best in the golden cage.
